Lisburn Foodbank and Signposting Service

LCC Community Trust has partnered with the Trussell Trust network to bring a foodbank to the Lisburn community.

The Greater Lisburn area has a population of over 120,000 people. Our foodbank provides emergency food and support to local people in crisis.  We collect food donated by schools, churches, business, individuals and  hold “Food Collection Days” at supermarkets throughout the year. The food is taken to the food bank centre where  it  is weighed in, sorted and made up into food parcels for clients.

Care professionals such as doctors, health visitors, social workers, welfare officers, the police and probation officers, amongst others, identify people in crisis and issue them with a food bank voucher. Clients then bring their voucher to a foodbank centre where it can be exchanged for three days supply of food.

Where appropriate, clients are signposted to other local services who can assist further.

This valuable service to the community is made available by volunteers from all walks of life who give of their time to make all aspects of the foodbank run smoothly.
