Summer Scheme 2025

Summer Scheme Brings Smiles and New Skills to Local Children

This summer, LCC Community Trust was buzzing with fun and the smell of freshly baked treats as we welcomed 42 children to our annual Summer Scheme, proudly funded by Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council.

Over the course of the week, our young adventurers tried their hand at all sorts of activities: learning the basics of sign language, baking up sweet treats, getting up close with some furry friends during a special animal session, playing team games, and letting their imaginations run wild in arts and crafts.

It wasn’t just about the activities; it was about creating a place to belong. The Summer Scheme gave children the chance to make new friends, try new things and enjoy a safe, welcoming space during the school holidays.
One 10-year-old summed it up perfectly: “I liked it ‘cause we played games and I didn’t get bored even one bit.”
Another, aged 7, made us smile with this: “I wish Summer Scheme was every day ‘cause it’s way more fun than my house.”

And it truly was all hands on deck. Behind the scenes and on the front line, 20 wonderful volunteers and staff worked together to make it all happen – organising games, baking, tidying up crafts, and keeping the fun flowing from start to finish.

Thank you to Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council for helping make this week possible, and to our amazing team for showing once again that when our community comes together, great things happen.

Here’s to more sunshine, smiles and memories next summer!
